The Rotaract Club of Downtown Montréal classed it up with their annual cocktail party. This year proceeds from the party went towards funding the Montréal's Children Library.
For more than 85 years, the Montreal Children’s Library (MCL) has provided FREE access to books, educational programs and literacy opportunities to children living in areas of the city where few municipal library services exist. Funds from the cocktail party went towards purchasing new, high-quality books and replacing books that are unrepairable or are yellowing. Especially in low-income neighborhoods, it is crucial to have quality materials for children to use in order to bolster their self-esteem and love of reading. Fresh, clean books tell children that they are worthy and can be trusted to take care of something of value. As tools of empowerment and education, stories provide a gateway to worlds where anything can happen.
